June 2019 Update

As you might have imagined, we’ve been incredibly busy as we gear up for our July production of The Yellow Wallpaper feature film and we’re excited to share a few major updates!

The biggest news to announce is that we will be shooting the entire film in Ireland with primarily Irish cast and crew! The short version of the story—our producing partners Emerald Giant Productions came across a wonderful resource, the Kennedy Rooms, a beautiful converted old convent, and now an event center, that will serve as our production office, film stage and residency center for the production.

It also happens to have a perfect old room in disrepair that will be an ideal location for the Yellow Wallpaper bedroom that we originally planned to build as a set. Through Emerald Giant, we’ve also been able to tap into a wide array of beautiful 1800’s era house interiors, lush Irish gardens and country roads that are a perfect setting for a story set in the 1890’s. With fewer complications, less set building, and more authenticity, we're thrilled with the direction we're heading.

Secondly, we’re pleased to announce that Sonja Tsypin has joined the team as Director of Photography.

Sonja is a cinematographer born and raised in New York City and currently based in Los Angeles. She has photographed a variety of award-winning content including narrative, music video, and commercial work on both digital and analog formats (35mm, 16mm). Many of these projects have been recognized and screened at film festivals across the country. Her cinematography work is heavily informed by her fine arts education as a painter. Sonja received her MFA in cinematography from the American Film Institute (AFI), with a first place cinematography award from the international KODAK Student Scholarships for which she was recently featured in an issue of American Cinematographer magazine. Additionally, we’re in the middle of the casting process right now. With help from The Irish Film & Television Network (IFTN), and Scannain’s website, we were able to connect with a deep pool of Irish talent. The first round of auditions were wonderful and we’re now finalizing call backs. With so many good applications, we’re having to make some tough choices. We’ll be sure to post updates as the cast is confirmed and our crew locked in.

And finally, we're very close to having all our production funding in place. We're almost there! ...and are within $10K of fully funding the production. Our sponsorship page has a list of donor and sponsorship levels as well as details on rewards.

Tax Deductible Donations can be made through our fiscal sponsor—FILM INDEPENDENT here: The Yellow Wallpaper on Film Independent. Please reach out directly if you'd like more information or to see our pitch deck.

We want to thank everyone who has contributed and joined us on this journey. Your continued support for this story and encouragement has been essential and inspiring. We look forward to sharing the project and the rest of the journey with you. With about two weeks until we begin production... It's about to get very real.

With our best regards,

Kevin and Lexi
...and the Yellow Wallpaper Team
